Andrew joined HISSMG in 2010, after becoming a victim of an unfair stop and search in Haringey himself. Andrew wants to ensure that the police are properly scrutinised and accountable to the community – both in relation to fairness in stop and search and policing priorities in the use of their powers.  Andrew strongly believes that HISSMG can make a difference through constant monitoring and continuing dialogue with the police as a ‘critical friend’.  During meetings with senior officers at Haringey Police, Andrew always ‘says it like it is’.  He was strongly critical of the over-use of Section 60 (the power stop and search without reasonable grounds in certain geographical areas) – now massively reduced.  His hope is to help make the Haringey Police the most accountable in the country.
